When is the the William States Lee College of Engineering's Information Session?

The Information Session is begins at 1:00 PM on most Mondays during the months of September - April.

During the months of May - August, information sessions are not offered due to New Student Orientation sessions that takes place during the summerFuture students are welcome to contact a representative from a major specific department to learn more about the program and college. To schedule a meeting with a department representative, please contact a departmental representative from the list provided below (located under Can I schedule a tour).

How do I cancel my registration?

To cancel your registration for an upcoming Monday Information Session, please notify the College of Engineering by calling 704-687-1991 or sending an email to Mrs. Billie Jo Schweitzer at bschweit@uncc.edu.

How long should I plan to be on campus for the information session

The information sessions begins at 1:00 PM. The session will last 30 minutes.There will be time for questions at the end of the session. 

How do I get to the UNC Charlotte campus?

Please use this link to get directions to campus from the major interstates in the Charlotte area MAPS AND DIRECTIONS.

Where is the Engineering Information Session held?

Information sessions will be held in an engineering facility classroom. Priority for classroom space is given to academics and therefore a room location has not been assigned for the information sessions during the months of September - April. All guests should check back to this site after August 30 for the information session location. An email will be sent to registered guests the Friday before scheduled visit.

For the months of May - August, the departmental representative will give you a specific location to arrive for the meeting. Be sure to write down the location when you schedule your meeting.

Where should I park?

We recommend that guests park in the Visitors section of the East Parking Deck 1 when attending sessions in Septemeber - April if you are planning to participate in the Admissions Daily Campus Tour. Please print a copy of East Parking Deck map. After driving through the main entrance at Broadrick Boulevard, bear right in the traffic circle onto Mary Alexander Rd. Continue on Mary Alexander past Robinson Hall. Take the first right into the Visitors section of the East Parking Deck 1. This is a gated lot. Visitors should allow additional time for parking. Cato Hall is diagonally across from Visitor's Parking. Undergraduate Admissions is located on the first floor. Guests will receive an parking exit at the end of the information session. Should East Parking Deck visitor parking fill, we recommend the Union Visitor Deck as an alternative.

Guests who will only attend the Lee College of Engineering Information Session only should park in the CRI Deck 1, which is located on the Charlotte Research Institute campus at UNC Charlotte. This is a gated lot. Visitors will enter and exit on Level 4 only. You can park anywhere in the deck, but visitors need to enter and exit on that level. 

Directions to CRI Deck 1:

From I-85:  Exit I-85 at Exit 45A, (Harris Blvd.), merge onto Harris Blvd. Turn left onto Tryon St. (Hwy. 29). Turn right on J.W. Clay Blvd.; turn left onto Robert D. Snyder Rd., take right into the first or second entrance into the CRI Deck 1 parking deck.You may park anywhere inside the deck but visitors enter and exit on Level 4 of the parking deck.

From Interstate 77; Exit 18 (Harris Blvd.), merge onto Harris Blvd. Turn left onto Tryon St. (Hwy. 29). Turn right on J.W. Clay Blvd.; turn left onto Robert D. Snyder Rd., take right into the first or second entrance into the CRI Deck 1 parking deck.You may park anywhere inside the deck but visitors enter and exit on Level 4 of the parking deck. 

From Interstate 485; Exit for Tryon St. (Hwy. 29) exit toward Charlotte; left at the fourth traffic light (J.W. Clay Blvd.) into campus. Turn left onto Robert D. Snyder Rd., take right into the first or second entrance into the CRI Deck 1 parking deck.You may park anywhere inside the deck but visitors enter and exit on Level 4 of the parking deck.

For guests attending sessions in May - August, please be sure to ask departmental representative where to park during your visit.

Can I register for a school or community group?

The Engineering Information Session is not recommended for school or community groups. If you would like to request a guided tour and information session for a group, please contact Gina Robinson at grobinson@uncc.edu.

I am a student and will need a excused absence note for the day. Will a note be provided?

Yes, we will provide a note in your information package.

Can I schedule a tour of the engineering facilities?

Tours are not a part of the information session however prospective students are encouraged to contact specific programs of interest to schedule a tour during their visit to campus. 

Prospective students and their guests interested in Civil and Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and want to make a day out of your visit should select a Monday that includes an Undergraduate Admissions Information Session and Tour, an information session with the Lee College of Engineering, and end the day with a tour of Civil and Environmental Engineering (EPIC) or Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science (Duke Centennial Hall and Motorsports Engineering facilities). Tours begin in the First Floor Lobby of Duke Centennial Hall.

What can I expect to see at this event?

The information session offers an overview of the Lee College of Engineering. It will give prospective students insight into the admissions process, majors offered, and new initiatives within the College of Engineering. 

What should I do if one of the members of my party has a physical disability that limits his/her ability to move around campus?
