Academic Student Support

Commitment to Student Success

The Lee College of Engineering is committed to students' success. We believe every student who is admitted to our college can graduate. We believe students learn by doing. We believe in teamwork. We also believe in the power of mentoring.

All of our academic programs include a practical component. Freshmen design and build projects ranging from spring-powered cars, to computer chip circuits, to balsa wood bridges. Hands-on learning continues throughout the curriculum. In the senior year, students team up to tackle real-world industrial projects such as bomb-detecting robots and high-pressure piping systems for nuclear power plants.

Students who participate in the programs below benefit from the wisdom and experience of academically successful upperclass students and from practicing professionals who, collectively, provide insight, guidance, and motivation to persist. These programs are offered through the College of Engineering Office of Student Development and Success (OSDS). OSDS faculty worked as practicing engineers and engineering leaders. Many are registered Professional Engineers in one or more states. They bring real-world experience and perspective to the classroom and to all of their student interactions. They are also academic advisors, Senior Design project mentors, and directors of student support programs. Visit for more information.
